I've always been playing the Heel toe method but thanks to Jared, Sean and Dave I've been able to adapt my bass drum style using the different techniques to fit with more diverse playing situations. Thanks to them I've gotten more paying gigs! Definitely something you NEED to check out! 5/5 stars

I purchased many - many instructional videos for drumming, and I have to say that this is the first one that I've purchased - that I've actually been able to use the techniques within 20-30 minutes of watching the video.

Clarity of teaching style, the slow motion clips, everything comes together to make it very easy to apply what you are trying to teach us.

- Steve Whittall

Tom

Very cool lesson Jared! I have been playing for years but never really saw anyone break that down before, thanks!

- Tom Bonarrigo

Jared had an incredibly simple way of explaining the technique. His step by step examples with the multiple camera angles really made the learning proccess much easier! To be able to hear what you should do and see it at the same time really made the connection with me.

I was skeptical at first, due to the fact that over the past six years I have developed a fast steady kick, without the technique. Jareds video put my worries at ease. With the first lesson he motivated me and by the end of the video, I had begun the new journey. My feet now have long surpassed what I had previously thought to be fast. Doing it for the first time and with in such a short period was outstanding!

It's amazing the new avenues of rhythms and feels you unlock, all from changing your feet. It has allowed me to grow infinitely with my imagination, and has added the confidence I needed to expand on my styles, and musical interests!

- Tyler Gunter

You have really inspire me, your lesson has thought me a lot of drumming skills and as a result, I have actually improve my drumming system. Thanks and God almighty be with you and bless you the more. I will want you to teach me more on sheet music.

- Etenikang Gabriel

all you guys ROCK...i sooo appreciate all of you. everything you guys do for us is awesome.may God bless you all.

- Neal DePriest

Fantastic stuff. Ill be sitting here with my spare peddle strapped to the coffee table so that watching TV isn't a complete waste of time. Any opportunity for some pracice eh!

- Geoffey Spence

Hey Jared. Great. I've been playing for so many years with just heel down and I have struggled realizing something had to be changed and improved but didn't know how. This is the way. Thanks for that.

- Libor Orel

WOW, I saw the heal/toe technique on the CD that came with my kit, but it was not taught with enough detail for me to figure it out. I was slamming my heal down and trying to make that a beat. LOL. Because of your detail, slow speed and shoe demo (I loved the different shoes to prove the point) now I got it! This is your best lesson so far because of how well you explained it. You are are a great drum teacher! Thank You

- Glen Ross

wow! I've been drumming a long time this fantastic keep the good news and info coming.

- Rosemary Cantu

Jared's slow and methodical explanations are easier to follow than other training videos where you get a short, fast explanation and then a video of the drummer playing in a "look what I can do" manner.

The first time I played quad (single bass) pattterns in-time, cleanly, within a fill andbeat - I was giggling like I just won the lotto!!!

I'm 35 years old and haven't played consistanly since high school, with my most recent lay off at 8 years. Not only has my playing come back to it's original form, I believe I am a better technical drummer than I have ever been. Furthermore, my sight reading has improved just from seeing the rythym written out and then played. Thank you!

- Rafael Portalatin

Amazing! (an Italian beginner).

- Paolo WottaHair Giannotta

wow I really learned something new... thankyou! very nice

- Joselo Perro

Marijke Bangun

Jared...you're just awesome...words can't describe it...i learned alot alot alot! :-))

- Marijke Bangun

This has got me thinking about the bass drum and what I can make it do in a completely different light. Thanks, Jared, for taking the trouble to explain these techniques for those of us that maybe haven't learned much in the way of new techniques for a long time.

- Anthony Breed

I like the way he took the time to break it down. To actually show you step by step and also to encourage you not to give up. Also the slow motion video so you could actually see what was going on. I can play the double bass now, and have even noticed an improvement in my single bass as far as speed and being able to get that double kick in good with just one pedal.

- Dusty Willige

Jared! It works! It is taking me somewhere else, And what's the most encourageing and beautiful that you are not getting tired to do the doubles!
You explain it well! I love being your virtual student :)

- Yaron Pinhas

Hi Jared you did a great job explaining how to do this exercise beeing that I'm totally blind because I'm a grindcore/death metal drummer and I can use this to improve my drumming.

- Greg Steel

Hey Jared really great thanks for that lesson.
I just started playing the drums in october 2010. So I'm a really a beginner and I really have a problem playing the bass drum. So this video helped me in a lot of ways. So I'm just trying to get that technique under my control.
So great thanks from Germany and for all of the work you're doing. ;)

- Eric Zieger

Mr. Falk, I just want to say a big "thank you" for putting this stuff out there, I was afraid a month ago that I was going to have a difficult time picking up drums as a new instrument after playing guitar for so long but your patient and visual teaching style has helped me grow by leaps and bounds. You're the best, man!

- Mike Lawson

Jared, I'm returning to drumming after a 50-year absence. You're really helping me regain the basic skills and bring them forward a half century. Not bad for a Canadian, eh?

- Jim Scapillato

I can't put in words how much we appreciate you and all the other drummers who share their knowledge on youtube with us. Thankyou, your an awsome person!

- Kevin Nicholls

Great stuff! You have such a great way of making what appears so difficult seem so easy to learn. Thanks Jared!

- Jeff Butchen

I learned this technique my first year of playing because of a youtube video I watched but it took me a LONG time to figure it out haha I wish this lesson had been around when I first started playing haha.

- Ricardo Zazueta

jared you are a awesome teacher especially your breaking parts down so they are bitesize chunks to understand easier..i would dearly love it if you could do a drum clinic in east sussex in the uk.

- Anthony R Burdge

coolllll thanks bro.. this is very innovative and Sophisticated.

- Bernatha Brondiva

Thanks for the slow motion... That helps a lot.

- Gary Smith

Erik

Thank you SO MUCH for your great effort and for these great lessons. I have got my drumming to much higher level. Just awesome. Greetings from Czech republic!

- Erik Netušil

Charlie

Hey Jared:) thank you so much for your help, I've been playing a year and your really helping me! these lessons a really helping as ive always wanted to improve my bass pedal speed, keep it up! thank you again:) your the best drumming teacher out there!

- Charlie Malam

Linus

Awsome! Thank you so much. The slowmo is awsome.

- Linus Vogelmann

Michael

Brilliant! Just like everyone else I have to say thank you! I have never had a teacher and so learn so much from these lessons! All very informing and never boring to watch/learn! Could I slip a request in? Would it be possible to show a video on double bass technique/speed building/consistency etc? Or at least give a shout out just saying 'you need to practice... No real technique, it just takes time.' Again thanks, and keep it up!

- Michael Browne

Ryan

This is great. I was having a lot of trouble with the heel-toe technique because I am a heel up drummer as well. I could quite get the timing right. This is much better for me and well broken down for easy learning, as usual. Keep up the good work!

- Ryan Horton

I love the simplicity of it, if your looking for something in particular, then you can just got straight to the module that its in, and theres a tonne of videos on it! :) you guys also tell us how to develop the techniques and how to use them, most videos just tell you how to do it then thats it.

- Elliot Yorke

I like the slow down feature the best. We all learn differently, but this allows you to watch exactly what is happening and then try and copy it. At normal or fast speeds it is often tough or impossible to see/hear exactly what a drummer is doing. This breaks it down for us slow learners. I myself have to concentrate and repeat to learn or remember something slowly before it becomes natural. This is a very helpful tool...................Thanks..........Bob.

- Bob Manginelli

I like the fact that there are three different instructors. Every person uses their feet a little different and other perspectives from different people can help you choose what's best for you. (Like the three different speed techniques that were taught earlier) Of course, being able to access 24/7 is awesome..

- Dale Hall

I don't know if it's even possible to pick one feature that I like the most, but I guess it would have to be the fact that it's online and so much easier to use than fumbling through DVDs. I love the other online resources you guys have and this will just be another to add to the mix. Thank you all for all of the hard work you put into these things to help newbies like me.

- James Epperson

I gotta say I Love the fact that you guys break everything down from the basics to how to do more challenging things and beats so it doesn't matter whether someone's a beginner or advanced everyone gets the help they need...you guys have helped me a whole lot with my techniques Thank you guys.

- Emily Ramirez

from what i've seen i like it all.the slow motion is what I'm looking forward to.I'm 58,only been playing 1 year and i have trouble seeing exactly what's happening sometimes so this should help. I've learned most of what i know from you guys and planning to learn a whole lot more..

- Jimmy Huggins

l dig all bass drum techinques you have broken down for us and that you guys have created such an awesome website for the drumming community. thanks guys!

- Ryan Stover

Luis

First of all let me thank both you and your entire crew, I've been a fan of your page for about two years now and I've learn a lot since then with the hughe advantage in doing it at my own time and speed, any hour I can. So just thanks. Keep drumming!

- Luis Arroyo

I like tons of exercises and lessons there, but the most thing I really appreciate is the feature of slow motion technique. I can see clearly and understand what happen in the stroke. Thanks to slow motion, I can now play hell toe, which I cann't practice for a long time. Thanks you guys very much.

  Official BDS Review

I've seen this and tried this technique before taught by others, but never seen it broken down and explained quite this way.I'm sure this will help me improve on this technique.Thank you Jared-very helpful!

- Dennis Prince

I like the camera angles that show exactly what Jared is doing. I also like the way the video is slowed to 25%, 50%, and 75% speed. The audio portions are clean and clear, making it easy to hear.

I used to be right foot dominant, but now I'm learning to be right and left foot dominant.

I've been able to subdivide my tempos and improve my timing. I've also started to practice with a "click" and that, combined with the Bass Drum Secrets, my overall performance has improved.

My contemporaries have noticed an improvement in my performance, but they aren't sure what it is... they only know that something's going on for the better.

- Brian Powley

I am so impressed with Jared and the rest of the crew at Railroad Media! Finally a group of people who understand that consumers want their money's worth and more and they absolutely deliver! Plus they are not afraid to give plenty of free bonuses to keep us consumers very very happy...hats off to you guys and do not change how you do things...keep giving and delivering more than you promise and you will keep all of us happy, as we already are! Thanks guys and well done, nice to see there are some people who seem to care about the purchaser!

- Gino K Culpepper

Awesome lesson. I got the first version of the Bass Drum Secrets (1.0) and it transformed my drumming. My first thought when I got this lesson in my in box was "Been there, done that". And I am glad I watched because I learned even more tips and tricks to make my Bass Drum into my third hand. Can't wait for the next lesson and to get a copy of the Bass Drum Secrets verion 2.0! Thanks Jared.

- Matt Denton

Not only do I get the opportunity to learn so much great stuff through the mountains of lessons, but my son's also have the opportunity to learn better techniques and playing ability, and challenge their dad with their drumming skills! What a resource to have to pass down to each generation of drummers. Thanks for the endless supply of learning!

- Christopher Wenzel

The best feature, to me, is having the teacher present and ready to go whenever I'M ready. It's always on MY schedule, at my convenience on a laptop wherever and whenever I want it. How can you get more convenient than that?

- Larry Rice

I am very impressed and I thank you Jarad for the fantastic lessons and the structure of your teaching. I particularly like the ability to go to a lesson quickly and be able to practice it in slow motion before it becomes more natural for me.

- Kris Konstandopoulos

I love it All Jared! Thanx so much for all the helpful hints, secrets and tricks! It's helped me in leaps and bounds and has caused me to love drumming again! No more Frustration and I'm truely understanding all the material and concepts! Thanx again, RayRay

- Ray Seese

The fact that it covers essentially everything you could ever want to know about playing the bass drum. How to even start playing, developing your independence, speed and control, techniques like the heel-toe and slide, beats, and so much more. Also, the live feature. Every week there is a chance to get any questions that you have answered with great detail. It's not really a feature, but also the helpfulness of everyone involved. While it costs money, you can tell they honestly care about getting us drummers whatever we need to help learn and progress.

- Adam Brenner

The whole set up of this looks great, its like having several personal teachers at the same time. It looks very well organized, and with you able to post new things, and answer questions about everything you teach in here, it's almost like actually being there to learn from you. :D

- Cameron Crouse

This is wonderfully user-friendly! My wishlist for "The Ideal User Interface" just got all checked off. Not to mention you've just delivered the most complete Bass Drum learning system I've seen Anywhere. Well-done!

- Jacky Tan

I really liked that he did the lessons slow as possible so that you could understand what he was saying, and because he took it slow, it was easy to follow along with. Another thing, which is the best thing about the video, is the foot cam and the foot cam with the slow motion.

I can't stress enough how much that help me. The fact that the actual foot motion on the bass pedal, when shown with a slow-motion camera, was very easy to learn and understand, and that impressed me a lot!

It has improved my drumming drastically. The most obvious improvement is bass pedal speed. The thing that I'm most happy with, is to play a regular bass beat, but be able to throw in a double hit here and there and it sounds so good. Good work! Thank you!

- Travis Howell

Great lesson Jared, God Bless!

- Dennis Hawks

INSANE JARED! I teach minor percussion and students come back to me because they say I totally breakdown what I teach. And you teach exactly the same way. I hadn't seen anybody teach this technique like this before. Thank you sooo much!

- Juan Carlos Ortega

I've been playing for over 35 yrs and you always show me something new. Old dogs CAN learn new tricks.

- Dean Earnhart

Excellent lesson, I think this demonstrates completely the general misconception that heel part of the heel toe technique is played with the heel of the foot when in fact as you can clearly see in the slowmo that the ball of the foot play's the note on the bass pedal. Great stuff...

- Sean May

I have always heard about this technique but not seen it demonstrated. Can't wait to get home and try it. Thanks. The part at the end with various shoes was very educational because it showed it's all technique.

- Bob Ball

Great Lesson. I have size 6-7 shoes (still growing) and actually did the first hit with my heel when I first started. I'm slowly trying to stop and do it the way shown here. Thanks for the help!

- Darren Jones

Very Nice it works!

- Mick Muse

He used very clear instruction. I like the use of multiple learning speeds. It helps alot.

The foot technique was the most impressive. I practice at work. I even showed my wife a few techniques.

It has greatly increased my bass drum consistency. I find I don't have to think about my feet/bass drum as much any more.

- Andy Hendrix

Very cool lessons I started drumming at 48 and I play everyday I'm 53 now and could not to a shuffle, Like the one on "Smoking in the Boys Room" the Motley Crue version. After practicing the heel toe for about 3 or 4 hours I thought about the song again got out my sheet music and played it with 0 effort and actually enjoyed playing it...IOU big time THANKS.
Bye the way the heel toe is the first thing I did that I actually got right away it came naturally for me. Unlike everything else in drumming so far haha.

- Brian Romolino

Great breakdown on the technique, I have been having problems with this and I believe you have clarified the positioning of the foot,
both to start and how to drive the pedal. I 'm anxious to see the results.

- Watson John Dunlop

Another quality lesson, as ever... Now I know my size 15's shouldn't stop me I'm heading straight to the kit. I thank you, although after a few hours of practice I'm not so sure my girlfiend will thank you! Keep the lessons coming, I get to teach my drum tutor new stuff because of you guys.

- Kurt Veasey

Hey Jared, Can't wait to give te technique a try. Truly inspiring idea, brilliantly put across and something else to get to grips with. I use a Tama Cobra double pedal as well so I have a head start ha! Thanks for the lesson. Impressive.

- Dave White

Nice breakdown of how the heal toe method works. As a new drummer this information is an extreme help. It prevents learning the wrong way and having to go back and correct your mistakes later. Thanks again.

- Patrick Burns

Great stuff! I look forward to all the new cool options I'll have as I improve with this technique.

- Rusty Babyrang Somogyi

Ive been playing for a long time. Its nice to be able to correct some of the bad habits ive picked up..

- Ron Mcleod

Thanks for breaking it down. It makes so much more sense now. now I just need to practice!

- Richard Large

THIS WAS A GREAT ASSET TO ME IN MY PLAYIN!

- D.W. Bass

You guys are awesome (Sean, Jared, David).

- Diego Padilla

Well done...easy to follow.

- Bill Redekop

that was helpful.

- Justin Pyroman Stokes

Thanks! I needed some technique to speed up my single pedal playing!

- Curt Hoffman

Jack

You broke it down in a way that makes sense, compared to other drummers who don't really go into detail. Thank You!

- Jack Trump

John

I've thought I was a awesome drummer until I figured out how much practice I still needed lol. it's awesome thanks for the help! someday I'm hoping to have people look at vidoes of me on the drums like you maan.

- John Johnson

Jay

Another home run from Railroad media! Thanks Jared and Dave!

- Jay Edgren

Saul

Thank you very much Jared and Dave you guys are very helpfull!

- Saul Arriola

Steve

Thanks for the vids and the site Jared! I've been using this site since I started drumming a few years ago. It has been an extremely valuable resource for me.

- Steve Henderson

I love the idea of using rudiments on the bass drum. My old teacher started to go through with me before I stopped (due to lack of funds).. I don't feel like I can improve much more without at least some sort of instructional video and I believe these show everything in which I need to see to learn them. 5 stroke roll? Brilliant! I can't imagine how beneficial this will be for my bass drum speed. Thanks!

- Kieran Reade

Yavor

these bass drum technique lessons are great. Thanks. It makes change for better playing on the drums.
